A practice of place

yoga doesn't end at the edges of a mat.

Outside, the river, plants, weather, and landscape become part of our practice. We slow down, pay attention, and experience Semans-Griswold not simply as a backdrop, but as a living landscape.

Come practice being here.

Semans-Griswold is more than a beautiful place to practice yoga.

The Chester River is a living laboratory. The surrounding landscape is home to native plants and habitat that support pollinators and wildlife. The garden grows. The seasons change. The work of conservation and environmental stewardship continues.

We'll spend our hour moving within that landscape. Not simply looking at it, but becoming more attentive to it.

Let the landscape become part of your practice.

Yoga gives us a practice for noticing. This is an invitation to notice here.

Practice will take place outdoors whenever weather permits. If the weather is inclement, we'll move indoors to Semans-Griswold Environmental Hall. Please dress accordingly and bring layers appropriate for outdoor conditions.

We recommend bringing a yoga mat, water bottle, and comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely. If you don’t have a mat, we have a few available to borrow—just let us know in advance!

You are welcome to park at our studio (400 S. Cross St..) or at Wilmer Park and walk to Semans-Griswold or drive and park onsite.

No yoga experience is necessary. All experience levels are welcome, and the physical practice will be accessible and adaptable to each participant. More than anything, Yoga in the Living Landscape is an invitation to practice observation and presence—to notice your breath, your body, the river, the plants, and the world around you. The movement is simply a way of helping us arrive and pay attention.

We highly recommend reserving your spot in advance to guarantee space in the classes you want to attend. Walk-ins are welcome if space allows, but signing up ahead of time ensures you won’t miss out! We strongly encourage pre-registration and request that you cancel your space in advance if your plans change.
